BES Media Center Mission Statement
The media center is an essential part of Benton Elementary. It is the mission of the media center to become the learning hub of the school providing students with a nurturing environment that empowers them to be critical thinkers and life-long learners. By providing flexible and equitable access to an organized collection of reliable print and web-based information, students will be equipped with the skills necessary to demonstrate, apply and communicate their learning in a global environment. The Media center also provides student and teacher resources that will allow them to be great readers and researchers.
Student Check-Out
Pre-K students will begin by checking out 1 book that they will enjoy at school.
Kindergarten students may check out 1 book.
1st – 5th Grade students may check out 2 books
Books are checked out for a 2 week time period during class library time or during individual visits. Students are encouraged to bring their books back to the media center during that 2 week time period.

Technology
As students strive to become life long learners technology will play a vital part in learning. Each week students will enjoy visiting the media center to work on various center based technology activities along with group activities that will assist them as they soar to success in the classroom and as life long learners.
